What is Access Bars® Therapy and How It Works
When life feels overwhelming, it can be hard to find the pause button. Stress builds, thoughts race, and clarity slips away. Access Bars® Therapy is a gentle, hands-on practice designed to quiet the mind and release built-up tension so you can feel lighter, calmer, and more present.
The Basics
Access Bars® was developed in the 1990s by Gary Douglas, founder of Access Consciousness®. The method is based on the idea that we carry the weight of our experiences, thoughts, and emotions in our minds and bodies, which can create stress, block clarity, and keep us stuck in old patterns.
During a session, a practitioner lightly touches 32 specific points on the head. These points are believed to hold the energetic imprint of our thoughts, feelings, and habits. By gently activating them, the nervous system relaxes and the mind begins to declutter. Clients often describe it as a sense of pressing reset on their brain.
What to Expect in a Session
You remain fully clothed and simply lie back, usually on a therapy table or comfortable chair.
The practitioner places their fingertips on different points across your head in sequence.
There is no pressure or manipulation, only light touch.
Many people drift into a deeply relaxed state, and some even fall asleep.
After the session, clients often describe feeling calmer, lighter, and more spacious in their thinking.
Why People Choose Access Bars®
Access Bars® is not about fixing you or telling you what to do. Instead, it creates the space for your mind and body to let go of overwhelm. Benefits reported by clients include:
Reduced stress and anxiety
Improved sleep
Greater clarity and focus
Relief from emotional tension
A sense of calm and presence
Every experience is unique, but most people leave with a renewed sense of ease, as if the internal noise has been turned down.

Benefits of Access Bars® Therapy
Modern life can be relentless. Long hours, constant demands, and the noise of daily stress leave many people feeling anxious, exhausted, or simply stuck. Access Bars® Therapy offers a way to pause, reset, and give your mind and body the chance to breathe again.
Stress and Anxiety Relief
Clients often describe Access Bars® as “switching off the chatter” in their minds. By gently releasing stored tension, the body can move into a state of deep relaxation. This helps to reduce feelings of anxiety and allows the nervous system to rebalance. Many people find they sleep better after sessions and feel calmer in their day-to-day lives.
“It felt like switching off the noise in my head — I could finally breathe.”
Reducing Overwhelm
When thoughts feel crowded or decisions feel impossible, Access Bars® can create space and clarity. It is not about removing responsibilities, but about giving you a clearer head to face them. Clients often report feeling lighter, more present, and better able to prioritise what matters most.
Support with Trauma
Access Bars® is not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment, but many people find it supportive alongside other therapies. By calming the nervous system and releasing emotional tension, sessions can help ease the intensity of difficult experiences, making space for recovery and resilience.
Everyday Benefits
Even without stress or trauma, Access Bars® can bring simple improvements to wellbeing. Reported benefits include:
More restful sleep
Greater focus and concentration
Improved mood and sense of ease
A deeper connection with self and surroundings
Every person’s experience is unique, but the common thread is a greater sense of calm and clarity that carries into everyday life.

Clarity Coaching and How It Complements Access Bars®
Coaching is about creating space to pause, reflect, and explore new perspectives. It provides structure and support for decision-making, goal setting, and building confidence. Many people find that coaching helps them untangle challenges and move forward with greater ease.
What is Clarity Coaching?
Clarity Coaching focuses on helping you step back from the noise and see things more clearly. Sessions provide time to talk openly, ask powerful questions, and identify patterns that may be holding you back. Whether it is work-related stress, life transitions, or personal goals, coaching offers a safe space to find new ways forward.
Why Combine Coaching with Access Bars®?
On their own, both practices can be powerful. Together, they create a deeper shift. Coaching allows you to set intentions and gain fresh insight. Access Bars® then helps release the stress, clutter, or emotional weight that may be blocking you from acting on those insights.
“The coaching helped me untangle my thoughts, and the Bars session made me feel calm and ready to move forward.”
The Clarity Reset Session
The Clarity Reset brings these approaches together in one 90-minute session. It begins with focused coaching to explore your goals or challenges. This is followed by an Access Bars® session that calms the nervous system and clears space for change. Clients often describe leaving with both a sense of direction and a feeling of lightness.

Evidence, Experiences, and Outcomes
Access Bars® Therapy and coaching are often described as life-changing by those who experience them. While scientific research is still developing, growing anecdotal evidence and small studies suggest positive outcomes for stress reduction, relaxation, and mental clarity.
Scientific and Experiential Evidence
Research into Access Bars® has shown promising results for lowering stress and anxiety, including studies measuring brainwave activity before and after sessions. Clients frequently report feeling calmer, sleeping better, and experiencing less mental clutter. Coaching, meanwhile, is widely recognised as a powerful tool for personal development, helping people gain confidence, perspective, and direction.
Client Experiences
Every client’s journey is unique, but there are common themes:
Feeling lighter and more at ease after a session
A clearer mind when making decisions
Improved focus and productivity
A greater sense of resilience when facing challenges
Relief from the weight of constant stress or overthinking
Some clients notice subtle changes immediately, such as a good night’s sleep or a calmer mood. Others find the benefits unfold gradually as they approach their daily lives with more clarity and balance.
“I felt lighter and more positive after just one session.”
“It gave me a clear head to make decisions I’d been putting off.”
“I slept better than I had in weeks.”
What to Expect After Sessions
Neither Access Bars® nor coaching is a quick fix. Instead, they are supportive practices that create space for change. After one session, many people feel calmer and more grounded. With ongoing sessions, the benefits can deepen, supporting long-term resilience, focus, and personal growth.
